If you're on the hunt for authentic Italian gelato that embodies both quality and tradition, look no further than Gelateria Sauro, nestled on Via Nazionale in the charming town of Ponte a Moriano, Italy. Since the 1950s, this family-owned gem has been delighting locals and visitors alike with its rich flavors and affectionate service.
As you step inside, you're greeted by the tantalizing aroma of freshly crafted gelato, a sensory experience that sets the stage for what’s to come. The menu boasts an array of tempting flavors, but the Pistachio gelato, touted by many as the best they've ever tasted, certainly deserves a spotlight. Pair that with a cup of the sumptuous Cioccolato Fondante, and you’ll understand why Gelateria Sauro is a must-visit.
Yet, it's not just the flavors that shine. Customers rave about the warm, inviting atmosphere where families and friends gather to indulge. Daniel “Dan” couldn’t have captured it better when he described his experience as one filled with the essence of Tuscany; Gelateria Sauro treats you like family. This is not just about gelato; it’s about creating nostalgic memories as you relish each creamy scoop while gazing at the serene views of the nearby River Serchio.
Don’t just take our word for it; reviews from satisfied customers like Gary Upton highlight the impeccable family recipe and affordability, proving that you don’t need to break the bank for artisanal delights. Whether you're stopping by for a refreshing gelato or perhaps a leisurely drink, as Michele Saragoni suggests, you’re sure to leave with a smile and perhaps even a desire to return, as Giulio Tempesta reflects on his own sentimental visit.
In the heart of Tuscany, Gelateria Sauro is more than just an ice cream shop; it’s a warm embrace of culture, flavor, and family tradition that you won't want to miss. So the next time you're in Ponte a Moriano or passing through Lucca, make sure to stop by and experience it for yourself. After all, life's too short to skip dessert!

As an avid gelato affectionate I was told that this family owned gelato since the 1950's was the best and first few in Tuscany. So we rented a car in Livorno and drove to Lucca (on another note a must see and special place) to this small town just north. It is the best gelato has Rome and Florence beat and they treated us like family.

This place has the finest Pistachio gelato I've ever had. Great Cioccolato Fondante, too. Great take-out options if you're into that sort of thing.
